This bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis of Angela Carter's novel Nights at the Circus. The thesis describes ideologies and theories presented during the history of the feminist movement and the reaction of postfeminism to the hypocritical ways the movement has fought its battles. This knowledge is applied in the analysis of the novel to highlight Carter's hidden opinion regarding the women's movement in order to determine if their purpose is to relate to it or make fun of what it has become.

Studentka představila svou práci. Po přečtení posudků komise položila následující otázky:
Could you point out, by giving examples, the postfeminist features of Carter’s novel?
Is masquerading a part of that?
What about satisfying man-female relationship?
Could you elaborate on the relationship of feminism and postmodernism, postfeminism and postmodernism?
How could the ending of the novel be read?
How is the ending postfeminist or even postmodern?
Which rhetorical, narrative or formal strategy from Chapter 4 would you consider most important for contemporary readers to fully appreciate the novel?
