Záznam průběhu obhajoby
The student presented her thesis.
Q: Zaorálek, quoted in Kufnerová 1994, to be found on p. 12 of your thesis, proclaimed the translation situation to be poor on the Czech market. Do you think it could have improved in the 23 years since the publication of the claim?
A: Yes, I think the situation has developed, however I think that the level of the market could be better if there was a legislation that would require the translators to have a philological or translation degree. There is such but only for judicial and literature.
Q, Nemčoková: I'm not sure about literature.
Q: Are there any possibilities how to make your evaluations of the translations objective, or at least less subjective?
A: Yes, but it would probably be a topic of a future master's thesis. (The student explained well.)
Q: What were the most serious mistakes in coherence of the final products?
A: In misunderstanding of the original text, however it was only one case of one un-trained translator who made a mistake. (The student explained well.)
Q: Which group of translators achieved better results?
A: Trained, in my point of view.
Q, Mengel: You say, (provides a quotation), but now you continue, (provides a quotation). You are entangling yourself in a paradox.
A: Yes, you're right, I'm sorry. (The student explained.)
Q, Vinklárek: What is the word which has no equivalent?
