The student presented her thesis.
Q: Do you think that cosmetic advertisements using women with physical imperfections as models would be effective in today´s society? Why/why not? A: I think they would be effective because I think women nowadays they feel the pressure on them, I think they would appreciate ads showing women with normal bodies and normal imperfections. Q: Do the names of the advertised cosmetic products have anything in common? Do they use any metaphors? A: Many of them words in French, buzzwords. I think metaphor is used in the description of products. One cream claims it fights aging. Fight is a metaphor. Q: How would you describe an ideal advertisement on beauty cosmetics? In what way do advertisements on these products differ in different women magazines? A: I will describe it as ads showing normal women with skin and body imperfections, normal body properties, scars, without computer retouching. Elle uses logos more than Vogue. Q, Nemčoková: Why is it? A: I think Elle thinks that showing logos make the magazine more credible. Q, Nemčoková: Have you looked at gender stereotypes in discourse strategies? Were they strengthening the stereotypes? A: I found them only in visuals, but also "Find the Force Within" suggests a woman should be strong. Q, Pilík: Can you define the main goal of the bachelor thesis? A: How these two magazines define ideal beauty and how they construct it. Q, Pilík: Have you constructed a profile of ideal beauty? A: Yes. Q, Pilík: What is the next step? What would you like to do with your findings? A: I think that women should know it that magazines do these constructions of ideal beauty and realize that it is not normal in their life. Q, Pilík: Your suggestions are for a magazine? A: Yes. Q, Pilík: I think it is a trend to create women with imperfections. A: I think I showed examples from 2016 and 2017. Q, Bell: Is it wrong if I say I like the retouches? A: It could be.
