The interdisciplinary branch of study Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials is aimed on studies of chemical or physical methods of materials preparation and their physical, chemical and biological properties with special attention paid to preparation, characterization and analysis of properties of nanostructures which are responsible for unique and special properties of materials.
The topics cover synthesis, preparation, modification, production technology and properties of materials wherever features connected with characteristic length at nanoscale play specific role. These components are used to prepare structures like sensors, electronics, functional polymer systems and composites. This field is broadened by knowledge from general technologies, optimization of functional and protective properties of materials and their performance in final product. An indispensable part of the study is characterization of structure, properties of materials and processes at nanoscale in order to understand microstructure-property-function relationships. Students will be acquainted with personal experience with design of experiments including statistical processing of data. Development of language skills in scientific fields will be provided.
