Bakalářská práce zabývající se domácím násilím je rozdělena do pěti částí. První část vysvětluje pojem domácí násilí, snaží se postihnout příčiny, typické znaky a formy tohoto sociálně patologického jevu a naznačuje typický průběh násilí v rodině. Těžištěm druhé kapitoly je charakteristika násilníka a oběti, pozornost je věnována i nepříliš známým formám domácího násilí - týrání seniorů a zdravotně postižených. V závěru druhé části se věnuje nejsmutnější stránce násilí v rodině, a to dětským obětem. Třetí kapitola začíná praktickými radami obětem násilí mezi partnery a pokračuje vytyčením hlavním úkolů státních orgánů při řešení domácího násilí a hledání účinných cest, jak tento nežádoucí jev eliminovat. Rovněž je zde zdůrazněn význam činnosti nevládních a neziskových organizací. Čtvrtá kapitola se zabývá problematikou prevence domácího násilí. Závěrečná část se snaží nastínit, jak se některé evropské státy včetně České republiky snaží vyrovnat s domácím násilím a jak se pokoušejí učinit ze soukromého problému problém společenský.

The topic of the bachelor’s thesis is domestic violence. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part defines the concept of domestic violence, discusses the causes, characteristic symptoms and forms of this socially pathological phenomenon, and delineates the typical progression of violence in a family. The second chapter deals with the characterization of aggressors and victims and several less known forms of domestic violence - abuse of the old and the handicapped. The second chapter concludes with the most unfortunate form of family violence - child victims. The third chapter provides practical advice to victims of violence between partners and sets out the main tasks of state authorities when dealing with domestic violence and seeking effective ways of eliminating this negative phenomenon. Emphasis is placed on the activities of non-governmental and non-profit organizations. The fourth chapter focuses on the prevention of domestic violence. The final part brings an outline of the ways various European countries, including the Czech Republic, try to deal with domestic violence and how they attempt to redefine an initially private issue into a social problem.
