Bakalářská práce seznamuje čtenáře o současném stavu dialektů ve Velké Británii
se zaměřením na dialekty jižní Anglie.
Teoretická část definuje význam slova dialekt a akcent a pojednává o historickém vývoji anglických dialektů. Praktická část rozděluje dialekty na tradiční a moderní a v návaznosti na tyto kategorie dále uvádí oblasti, ve které se dané dialekty vyskytují. Další kapitola je věnována charakteristickým znakům dialektů jižní Anglie, které jsou podrobněji analyzovány v kapitolách o Estuary English a Cockney. V závěru práce jsou z hlediska výslovnosti porovnávány Received Pronunciation a Cockney. K porovnání slouží poznatky získané v průběhu práce a zároveň i CD s nahrávkami dvou rodilých mluvčí.

The Bachelor Thesis informs readers about the current situation of the dialects in Great Britain and it focuses on the dialects of southern England.
The theoretical part defines the words dialect and accent and deals with the historical development of English dialects. The analytical part divides the dialects into Traditional and Modern Dialects and in the connection with these categories, it states the areas of the certain dialects. Next chapter is dedicated to the characteristic features of southern English dialects that are analyzed in the chapters of Estuary English and Cockney in more details. The final part compares Received Pronunciation and Cockney in term of the pronunciation. The comparison stems from the facts of the previous chapters as well as from the CD with the records of two native speakers.
