Annotation in English The subject of this dissertation is to outline project activities in the charitable (non-profitable) organisation Highland Birchwoods. The organisation deals with project activities within environmental areas, especially forestry, biodiversity and rural development. It was established in 1992 and therefore has a lot of experience of obtaining the necessary grants. This thesis maps HB’s record for the financial grants, not just from regional and national funding mechanisms, but also from EU funding bodies. The special focus in this work is on one of the current projects ‘‘Action for Mountain Woodlands’q. Analysis of this project will show its current situation and will then propose recommendations that the company could undertake in order to improve the financial management of the project and its chances of success.
