Diplomová práce je teoreticko-empirického charakteru a zabývá se tématem role učitelky v Montessori mateřské škole. Teoretickou část tvoří tři kapitoly. Úvodní kapitola se zabývá alternativním vzděláváním, jeho charakteristickými rysy, funkcemi a typy těchto směrů. Druhá kapitola pojednává o Montessori pedagogice a její charakteristice a myšlenkách, zakladatelce Marie Montessori, Montessori principech a vzdělávacích oblastech. Závěrečná kapitola teoretické části je věnována samotnému učiteli v tradiční a Montessori mateřské škole, jeho roli a profesním kompetencím. Závěr této kapitoly pojednává o specifikách práce a činnostech učitelky v Montessori mateřské škole.
Praktická část diplomové práce byla realizována prostřednictvím kvalitativně orientovaného výzkumu, jehož hlavním cílem bylo zjistit a popsat, jak učitelky v Montessori mateřské škole vnímají svoji roli v Montessori vzdělávacích oblastech. Výzkum byl realizován s využitím metod polostrukturovaného interview s učitelkami ve vybrané Montessori mateřské škole a pozorování interakce učitelky s dětmi.

The master's thesis has a theoretical-empirical character. The master's thesis deals with the role of the teacher in a Montessori kindergarten. The theoretical part of the master's thesis consists of three chapters. The introductory chapter of the master's thesis is focused on characteristics of alternative education and its functions. The second chapter of the master's thesis is focused on Montessori pedagogy and its characteristics and ideas, the founder Maria Montessori, Montessori principles and educational fields. The final chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the teacher himself in traditional and Montessori kindergarten, his roles and professional competences. The conclusion of the final chapter of the master's thesis deals with the specifics of the work and activities of a teacher in Montessori kindergarten.
The practical part of the master's thesis was accomplished by qualitative research, whose aim was to find out and describe how teachers in Montessori kindergarten perceive their role in Montessori educational fields. The research is based on an analysis of semi-structured interviews with selected Montessori kindergarten teachers in the selected Montessori kindergarten and on an analysis of unstructured observation of teacher-child interaction.
