The doctoral thesis deals with the research of biologically active polymer systems based on synthetic polymers, which were modified with components
of essential oils. The main attention was paid to the study and description of aspects leading to the extension of processing window of the investigated
systems, and thus to their practical application. The experimental part is primarily focused on the study of the process of immobilization of essential oil components on a solid carrier for the subsequent thermoplastic preparation of composite systems. The next part of the thesis describes the possibilities of using encapsulation techniques for the formation of polymer microspheres. As a part of the research, the methods for the quantitative determination of active substances in polymer systems were defined using the advanced analytical techniques. An integral part of the thesis comprises the study of the release kinetics of active substances from the developed systems, including the determination of their antibacterial activity. The obtained results show
a significant potential of the developed systems for their application in practice.
