Předkládaná diplomová práce se věnuje tématu využívání grafických příběhů v osvojování angličtiny jako cizího jazyka v předškolním vzdělávání. Jejím cílem je zjištění zkušeností učitelů mateřských škol, s využíváním grafických příběhů v rámci počátečního osvojování cizího jazyka u dětí předškolního věku. Teoretická část představuje sumarizaci teoretických poznatků problematiky raného osvojování cizího jazyka u dětí předškolního věku, roli využívání literárních žánrů a zejména vliv jejich obrazových informací při práci s textem. V praktické části jsem pomocí kvantitativního designu metodou dotazníkového šetření a získaných dat od respondentů zpracovala analýzu výsledků a jako doplňkovou metodu jsem zvolila kvalitativní design polostrukturovaného interview, jehož data byla zpracována prostřednictvím otevřeného kódování. Na základě výsledků z výzkumného šetření jsem zformulovala doporučení pro praxi.

The presented diploma thesis deals with the topic of using graphic stories in learning English as a foreign language in preschool education. Its aim is to find out the experiences of kindergarten teachers with the use of graphic stories in the initial acquisition of a foreign language learning in preschool children. The theoretical part presents a summary of the theoretical knowledge of the issue of early foreign language acquisition in preschool children, the role of the use of literary genres and the particular influence of their pictorial information when working with text. In the practical part, based on the findings from the quantitative design and the data obtained from the respondents, I processed the analysis of the results and as an additional method I chose the qualitative design of a semi-structured interview whose data was processed through open encoding. Based on the results of the research investigation, I formulated recommendations for educators involved in foreign language acquisition in preschool children.
