Annotation in English Master thesis is focused on the role of physical factors such as thickness or mode of processing in photodegradation of isotactic polypropylene. Samples were prepared via compression moulding or injection moulding and subsequently exposed to UV radiation. The extent of degradation was determined by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy or by attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy. Next, the degradation profile of compression-moulded samples was analysed by micro-infrared spectroscopy.
Keywords Izotaktický polypropylen, fotodegradace, fyzikální faktory, tloušťka, zpracování, degradační profil.
Keywords in English Isotactic polypropylene, photodegradation, physical factors, thickness, processing, degradation profile.

Research Plan The work will be focused on the assessment of the effects of individual physical factors on the process of polypropylene photooxidation. Samples will be prepared via compression moulding and injection moulding. Subsequently, the samples with various processing history and shapes will be exposed to UV-light in accelerated ageing device. The extent of photooxidation will be measured using infrared spectroscopy in both transmission and reflection mode. This approach should bring an overview of the contribution of individual physical factors to the photodegradation of polypropylene.
