Svoji negativní roli sehrály i bankroty řady malých bank a vytunelování některých investičních fondů v devadesátých letech.
Household savings in the Czech Republic are relatively high, but for the most part, they consist of bank deposits. This situation has several reasons. One of them is the fact that Czech households tend to be considerably conservative, another reason could be that they are somewhat inexperienced with other forms of investment which use different financial instruments. Knowledge of financial products is substantially lower in the Czech Republic compared to other countries with a more developped economy. In the 90's, a series of bank-trupcies of smaller banks and other cases of fraud in connection with certain investment funds occured and they too played their role in affecting the general perception of financial institutions. All of these negative circumstances created not exactly an investment-friendly environment. In the last few years, however, there have been some changes in how the Czech population views investment opportunities and people have begun to discover new ways of investing their savings. This dissertation, called The Investment Project of a Begin-ning Investor, is attempting to introduce the issue of collective investment strategies to those who are new to the investment process. At the end of the paper, there is an illustration of the distribution of a portfolio from a position of a dynamic investor in order to present a more specific idea about investing in open shares funds.
