Bakalářská práce se zabývá historií aromaterapie od starověku až po současnost a zmiňuje několik významných světových osobností, které se zasloužily o její historický vývoj. Velká část práce se zabývá biologickými účinky éterických olejů na různé patogeny, dále účinky na lidskou psychiku a antioxidačními účinky. Další část práce je zaměřena na využití éterických olejů v průmyslu potravinářském a kosmetickém, v průmyslu spotřební chemie, ve farmacii a v dermatologii. Práce dále pojednává o používání éterických olejů v aromaterapii jako alternativní, holistické terapii a samostatná kapitola je věnována využití aromaterapie v kosmetice.

This bachelor thesis deals with the history of aromatherapy from antiquity to the present and mentions several important people who have contributed to its historical development. One part mostly deals with the biological effects of essential oils on various pathogens, as well as effects on the human psyche and antioxidant effects. Another part of the thesis is focused on the use of essential oils in the food and cosmetic industry, in the consumer chemistry industry, in pharmacy and in dermatology. The thesis also deals with the use of essential oils in aromatherapy as an alternative, holistic therapy. A separate chapter is devoted to the use of aromatherapy in cosmetics.
