Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou eutanázie a termínů s ní spojených. Teoretická část je zaměřena na základní pojmosloví vztahující se k eutanázii, umírání a smrti. Popisuje proměny pojetí smrti ve společnosti, potřeby umírajícího člověka a možnosti paliativní péče. Informuje o argumentech pro a proti legalizaci eutanázie a legislativním vymezení v ČR. Praktická část prazentuje výsledky kvantitativního výzkumu realizovaného za využití techniky dotazníkového šetření. Výzkum je zaměřen na názory a informovanost široké veřejnosti o problematice eutanázie, umírání a smrti. avýsledky jsou prazentovány pomocí grafů a tabulek. Stanovené hypotézy jsou statisticky vyhodnoceny a verifikovány nebo falzifikovány.

The thesis deals with the issue of euthanasia and the terms associated with it. The theoretical part is focused on basic terminology related to euthanasia, dying process and death. It describes the changes in the concept of death in society, the needs of the dying human and the possibilities of paliative care. It informs about arguments for and against legalization of euthanasia and legislative definition in the Czech republic. The practical part presents the results of quantitative research realized using the questionnaire survey technique. The research focuses on the views and awareness of the general public about the issues of euthanasia, dying and death. The results are presented using graphs and tables. These hypotheses are statistically evakuated and verified or falsified.
