Práce pojednává o stáří a starých lidech. O vzniku gerontologie a geriatrie. Zamýšlí se nad stářím. A to nad stářím zdravým, které je schopno se postarat se samo o sebe a ještě si života užívat v klubech a na univerzitách, i nad stářím nemohoucím, kdy je člověk odkázán na pomoc druhých.
Zmiňuje se i o násilí páchaném na starých lidech, o ageismu neboli věkové diskriminaci, o mýtech o stáří. Konec práce je zaměřen na umírání a důstojný odchod seniorů z tohoto světa.

This schoolwork is dealing with an old age, old people and a formation of gerontology and geriatry. This work is thinking about healthy old age, which is able to look after itself and still to spend a life at clubs and universities. The schoolwork is thinking about helpless old age, when man is dependent on a help of another people.
The schoolwork is mentioning a violence commited on old people, is mentioning ageism, i. e. a discrimination of age, and is mentioning, too, myths about old age. The end of this schoolwork is concentrated on questions of dignified dying and death of old people.
