Předložená práce se zabývá postoji pracovníků vězeňství a vězňů karvinské věznice k tématům souvisejícím s trestem smrti. V teoretické části se zaměřuji na historii vězeňství. Dále věnuji pozornost normám a sankcím, vymezení trestů, jaký je jejich účel a funkce. V poslední kapitole teoretické části je popisován pohled do historie trestu smrti.
Praktická část obsahuje výsledky dotazníkového šetření, které se uskutečnilo ve Věznici Karviná. Cílem průzkumu bylo zjistit, jaké postoje zaujímají osoby pracující ve vězeňství a vězni k trestu smrti.

This following work deals with the issue of the death penalty, the position of the workforce and the prisoners in the Karvina Prison. The theoretical part is focused on the history of the prison. Also I focused on the norms and sanctions, the definition of punishment, its purpose and the function. The last chapter describes the historic view of the death penalty.
The practical part contains the results of the survey, which took place in the Prison of Karvina. The survey aimed to find out what are the attitudes of both, workers and prisoners to the issue of death penalty.
