Tématem bakalářské práce jsou specifika v ošetřovatelské péči o osoby s Downovým syndromem. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části je vymezena diagnóza Downova syndromu, seznámení s historickým vývojem této diagnózy, s jejími specifickými rysy a s možnostmi diagnostiky. Dále je popsána úloha sester v rámci péče o osoby s Downovým syndromem a různé formy alternativní komunikace. Na základě výsledků dotazníkového šetření je v praktické části vyhodnocena rozlišnost péče o klienty s touto vrozenou genetickou vadou a se zájmem všeobecných sester se v této problematice dále vzdělávat. Dále pak práce informuje o úrovni spolupráce s rodinnými příslušníky při hospitalizaci klienta s Downovým syndromem.

The topic of the Bachelor thesis is the specifics of nursing care for people with Down syndrome. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part the diagnosis of Down syndrome is defined, the thesis introduces to readers with the historical development of this diagnosis, with its specific features, with the possibilities of diagnostics. Also describes to the role of nurses in the care of people with Down syndrome and various forms of alternative communication. Based on the results of questionnaire survey there is in the practical part evaluation of the diversity of care for clients with this congenital genetic defect and interest of nurses in further education in this field. The thesis then informs about the level of cooperation with family members during hospitalization of client with Down syndrome.
