Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá překladem amerického televizního pořadu Masterchef. Analyzuje problémy, které se mohou v překladu objevit. Pojednává o kombinaci žánrů, ze kterých se Masterchef skládá a o důležitosti zachování vlivu, který má výchozí text na svou cílovou skupinu diváků. Teoretická část zahrnuje tři úrovně překladu: lexikologickou, gramatickou a textovou. Každá část teorie je podpořena praktickými příklady. Analytická část se týká porovnání dvou verzí překladu: autora bakalářské práce s verzí autora titulků. Zabývá se konkrétními překlady profesionalismů, idiomů, frázových sloves a terminologie, stejně tak stylistických prostředků a analyzuje nejvhodnější překladové metody a strategie.

This bachelor thesis focuses on translation of the American TV show Masterchef. It analyzes problems that may appear in translation. It discusses the combination of genres Masterchef consists of and the importance of maintaining the impact of the source text on its audience. The theoretical part includes three levels of translation: lexicological, grammatical and textual. Each part of the theory is supported by practical examples. The analytical part contains a comparison of two versions of the translation: the thesis author's with the subtitle creator's version. It deals with the concrete translations of professionalisms, idioms, phrasal verbs and terminology as well as stylistic means and it analyzes the most appropriate translation methods and strategies.

The student presented her thesis.
Q, review: How do you understand code-switching (as used, e.g., on p. 29?) Do you know of any other meanings of code-switching? A: Code-switching is basically switching from one language to another, but for me it's about stylistic, from one meaning to another meaning.
Q, Nemčoková: How does translation use code-switching? A: Switching from source to target language.
Q, review: Czech language allows the use of imperative by means of infinitive, e.g. ''Sednout!'' Influence of what communicative situation can we spot here? (Even Ty/Vy is used in the show in the same tone.) A: The power allocation of the participants. It reminds me of school. The more professional chefs are powerful, the contestants do not have power.
Q, review: Can you clarify where the two translations come from and how do they compare? (The student explained in the presentation.)
Q, review: Discuss examples and function of translation shift in the analysed discourse. A: I found in MasterChef for example class shifting, when the term "congratulations" was translated as "gratuluji vám". Change into verb in the target language.
