Diplomová práce se zabývá definicí role ženy samoživitelky a rozborem problémových situací žen samoživitelek. V práci je popisován vývoj a rozpad vztahu, manželství, jak se žena může dostat do role ženy samoživitelky a jaké pro ni a její děti důsledky získání této role to přináší. Kde jsou možnosti hledaní případné pomoci neboli opory při řešení krizové životní situace. Je tím myšlena nejen opora ze strany rodiny v rámci sociální podpory, ale také např. materiální pomoc ze strany státu a jiných organizací. Uvádí také, jak důležitá je práce sociální pracovníka v rodině, která jeho pomoc potřebuje.

This diploma thesis deals with the definition of the role of the single mother and also analyses the problematic situation of women as a single parent. The thesis describes the development and break-up of the relationships and marriages and tells us how a woman can get into the role of the single parent, and what consequences of obtaining this role bring to her and her children. It also provides us the answer on the question where are the options of looking for help or support that can help with crisis situations in life. In this case it is meant the support not only from the family, but also material help from the state and other organizations. Finally, the thesis shows how important is the work of the social worker in a
family that needs his or her help.

Empirická část bude obsahovat formulaci problémů, hypotéz a určení cíle. Dále výběr respondentů žen, specifikaci jejich životních problémů, se kterými se již setkaly a zjištění, jakým způsobem je řešily. Empirická část bude také zahrnovat sepsání kazuistik respondentů a návrh možnosti hledání odborné sociální opory.
