Teoretická část vysvětluje prvky novinových textů a použitých způsobech ovlivňování.

The student presented his bachelor thesis.
Q: Mikeska: On p. 15 you say that word play can be detected in newspaper articles. Can you mention any examples of word play in the texts you analysed, explaining their purpose? A: The word play was visible in one of the articles, e.g. the word fired the last canon, as Mr. Canon is connected to the Scottish parliament, the opposite side was degraded by this. Q: Mikeska: Did you find any differences in approach to the topic between serious and tabloid newspapers used for the analysis? A: I focused on it but I did not see any big differences between tabloids and broad sheets. Q: Trčková: Can you elaborate on your methodology? How did you choose your corpus and the observed features? A: I did not want to exaggerate the selection, I wanted partly random selection. I chose articles with similar ideas. Q: Trčková: You describe the Independent as ''Broadsheet/tabloid quality newspaper‘‘. Can you explain which characteristic of the paper the above terms actually refer to? (quality x format) A: The Independent was first a broad sheet, later became tabloid. They still wanted to be serious but the Guardian claimed they are not that serious as they pretended. Q: Trčková: Is political orientation of a paper relevant to its way of reporting? Why was this aspect omitted in your research? A: It is relevant but I did not look for political orientation of the newspaper, the thesis should be short I did not want to make it that extensive.
