V mé bakalářské práci se zabývám analýzou diskurzu novinových článků. Má práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a analytickou část. V teoretické části blíže rozebírám média, především online noviny a jejich historii, diskurz, jeho analýzu, jazyk a syntax novin. The student presented her bachelor thesis.
Q: Trčková: The author states in the conclusion that the Daily News is more controversial than The Mirror. Can the author give some evidence for this claim? A: It is more traditional. Mirror has modern form, it is not controversial. Q: Trčková: Drawing upon Reah, the author states in 9.1 that by removing a relational verb from a sentence, the author of the text can influence the ideological stance of the reader. Can the author of the thesis illustrate this on an example? A: Yes. (searching long in presentation) "She is something" means we are giving our opinion, expressed by to be. We can change it by another verb, e.g. someone. Q: Fonfárová: Your decision to compare British and American tabloids seems rather unfortunate as these media are bound to be culturally specific and hence their celebrity coverage is likely to be regional, rather than universal. However, the language use is an easily observable phenomena. Can you summarize your results regarding the discourse differences, if there are any? A: The language was quite similar, they want to be closer to the reader, some idioms and phrases were from ordinary life of people, also choosing of words. Culture discourse is different because they choose other celebrities.Q: Emonds: On p. 20 you mention (quote), can you indicate where you refer back to these tabloids? A: Modality, cannot, could, etc. "You can have children", for example. Q: Mikeska: Contribution of your thesis? A: Tabloids are similar in content.
