Diplomová práce se v teoretické části vyjadřuje k teoretickým východiskům a pojmům problematiky reminiscence v individuální práci se seniory ze sociálně-pedagogického pohledu, dále popisuje vztah seniorů ke vzpomínání. Další kapitola je věnována vzpomínkám a jejich významu pro život člověka, dále popisuje stáří jako období ztráty společenské role a rozebírá etapy života člověka ve stáří, změny spojené s tímto obdobím, věnuje se potřebám starého člověka. Poslední kapitola je věnována samotné reminiscenci. Popisuje její vznik a postupný vývoj, jednotlivé přístupy, podoby, vliv jaký má na člověka. Dále popisuje přínos reminiscence a specifika komunikace při reminiscenci. Zabývá se také motivací seniorů k reminiscenci.
Praktická část popisuje výsledky výzkumu nabytého pomocí strukturovaných rozhovorů a zjišťuje přínos reminiscence pro seniory a motivaci pracovníků k provádění reminiscence.

In its theoretical part, the diploma thesis deals with the theoretical principles and terms concerning the problems of reminiscence in individual work with the seniors from the social-pedagogical view, next it describes the seniors' relation to recollection. In the following subchapter it analyses memories and their meaning for a man's life and old age as a period of losing the social role. It depicts the periods of old person's life and the changes related to these periods. It deals with the old person's needs and the life changes in the old age. The last chapter reaches the issue of reminiscence and describes its origin and gradual development, particular approaches, forms and its influence on an individual, as well as the motivation for seniors, the outputs of reminiscence, its benefit and specifics in communication during reminiscence.
