Cílem práce je zjistit, jaká je struktura posluchačů Univerzity třetího věku na UTB ve Zlíně, jaká je jejich motivace ke studiu a na základě výsledků průzkumu navrhnout řešení ke zvýšení zájmu seniorů o aktivnější studium a tím zvýšit kvalitu tohoto vzdělávacího programu na UTB ve Zlíně.
V teoretické části uvádím základní informace týkající se problematiky stárnutí člověka jako jedince i celé populace a s tím související potřeby celospolečenského řešení otázky zvyšování kvality života seniorské populace. Významnou částí je kapitola o nutnosti celoživotního vzdělávání a po ní následující kapitola o poslání univerzit třetího věku. Charakteristika Univerzity třetího věku na UTB ve Zlíně je již v podstatě úvodem k praktické části.
Praktická část práce obsahuje rozbor postojů seniorských posluchačů na základě odpovědí, které uváděli v dotazníkovém průzkumu. V závěru uvádím náměty, jak poznatky prakticky využít ke zvýšení úrovně vzdělávání seniorů na UTB.

This Bachelor’s thesis is aiming at gathering information on the structure of students at the University of the Third Age at TBU in Zlín, on their motivation to study and - based on the survey results - at proposing a solution resulting in an increased interest in a more active study to be shown by the senior students and thus at improving the quality of this educational programme implemented at TBU in Zlín.
The theoretical part includes basic information regarding the issue of ageing both in individuals and in the entire population and, in relation to this fact, the necessity of finding a solution for the society as a whole as regards the improvement of the quality of life of the senior population. Of great importance is the chapter on the necessity of learning lasting for a lifetime (lifelong learning) as well as the following chapter on the role of the Universities of the Third Age. The characterization of the University of the Third Age at TBU in Zlín actually represents an introduction to the practical part.
The practical part involves an analysis of the senior students’ opinions expressed in the answers given by the students within the questionnaire survey. To conclude, I have given my suggestions on how to apply the knowledge obtained in order to improve the level of seniors’ education at TBU.
