Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na historický vývoj amerického komiksu. Důležitou součástí této práce je popis hlavních a zásadních událostí, které měly vliv na tvorbu v oblasti komiksu. Další část popisuje hlavní postavy amerického komiksu. Nedílnou součástí je také krátká charakteristika nejdůležitějších tvůrců komiksu a specifikace nakladatelství DC Comics a Marvel Comics.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the historical development of American comics. The description of the main and principal events, which influenced the production of comics, is another important part of this thesis. The next part describes major characters of American comics. Inseparable part is the short characteristic of the most important creators of comics and the specification of publishing houses DC Comics and Marvel Comics.

Q, Fonfárová: Chapter on history of comics: Why did you include the Platinum Age, The Golden Age etc. as the milestones in the development of comics? A: Because important events iin comics happened in these ages, made research and read a lot of books, wanted to connect and describe history of comics. Each of the ages is important. There were differences, not that very significant. Q, Fonfárová: Expand on how the reader of comics is a feature of comics. How does that work? A: The chapter should introduce comics to the read of the thesis, it is important because the reader has to be aware of the connection between text and image. Q, Fonfárová: Why did you include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and Fantastic Four among the milestones of Anglo-American comics while you omitted other comic book characters (such as Captain America, Flash, Catwoman, Sandman, or V.)?
