Cílem této bakalářské práce je porovnat překladatelské dovednosti začínajícího
překladatele s profesionálním překladatelem prostřednictvím srovnávací analýzy.
Zkoumaným textem je kapitola z antiutopického románu 1984 od proslulého britského spisovatele George Orwella. Teoretická část pojednává o problematice překladu na lexikální, gramatické a textové rovině. Praktická část se zaobírá samotnou analýzou, kde jsou jednotlivé překlady porovnávány na těchto rovinách. V závěru jsou na základě výsledků analýzy identifikovány silné a slabé stránky dovedností začínajícího překladatele.

The aim of this thesis is to compare the translational proficiency of a beginner translator to that of a professional translator through a comparative analysis. The text under investigation is a chapter from the dystopian novel by the renowned British author George Orwell. The theoretical part discusses the problematics of translation at the lexical, grammatical, and textual levels. The practical part deals with the analysis itself, where the individual translations are compared on these levels of the text. The conclusion identifies the strengths and weaknesses of the beginner translator's skills based on the findings of the analysis.
