The student presented her bachelor thesis.
Q, Machová: According to M.A.K. Halliday, words and their meanings are governed by social convention. Can you provide a deeper support of this statement in the context of English fashion? A: In the context of English fashion, there are some restrictions connected to social classes for mainly upper classes, e.g. the royal horse races when you have to follow dress code. It would be a faux pas for a woman not wearing a hat.
Q, Machová: How did you build the glossary? A: Words selected possibly randomly, also searched for terminology unknown to people not oriented in the field. Looked up English meanings of Czech words.
Q, Machová: How are the terms ordered? A: Not alphabetically, mainly according to their importance, similarities between them.
Q, Blažková: Do you know any Czech fashion journalists or photographers? Do they publish in English? A: In the Czech Republic, tendency to create internet blogs, these show comparison between bad and good fashion taste, published larger amount of authors.
Q, Čechová: Why does the thesis not mention BrE and AmE, e.g. thongs vs. flip-flops? A: Included differences only of some of them.
