Diplomová práce se věnuje tématu duševního onemocnění a problematice sociálního postavení osob s duševním onemocněním ve společnosti. Je rozdělena na dvě základní části. V teoretické části charakterizuje základní pojmy z oblasti duševního zdraví a onemocnění, přibližuje historické chápání duševního onemocnění a současné sociálně právní postavení osob s duševním onemocněním. Všímá si především problematiky předsudků a mýtů, které se váží k duševnímu onemocnění a hlouběji popisuje příčiny stigmatizace a diskriminace osob s duševním onemocněním. Teoretickou část uzavírá kapitola o systému sociálních služeb, které jsou osobám s duševním onemocněním v ČR nabízeny, zvláště se zaměřuje na rezidenční sociální službu domov se zvláštním režimem. Praktická část je věnována kvantitativnímu výzkumu, který zjišťuje vnímání uživatelů konkrétního domova se zvláštním režimem jeho zaměstnanci a nejbližším sociálním okolím. Na základě interpretace výsledků dotazníkového šetření jsou navrženy kroky pro management zařízení na zkvalitnění poskytované služby a naplňování cílů v oblasti integrace uživatelů do běžné společnosti.

The thesis focuses on the issues of mental disorder and of the social status of mental disor-der. It is divided into two parts. The theoretical part discusses the basic concepts of mental health and mental disorder and explains the development of the understanding of mental disorder in the history of mankind. It also considers the current social and legal status of mentally challenged people while concentrating particularly on prejudice and myths that are connected with mental disorder and describes comprehensively the causes of stigmatisation and discrimination against people with mental disorder. The chapter that elaborates on the system of social services that people with mental disorder might use in the Czech Republic concludes the theoretical part ? it focuses especially on the residential social service special regime homes. The practical part is devoted to the quantitative research that explores how the clients special regime home are perceived by their employees and by the immediate social surrounding. The results of the survey served as a basis for suggesting how the services might be improved and how the objectives of these services ? that is the integration of clients into the society ? may be achieved even better than so far.
