Tato práce analyzuje vývoj rodiny a jejích funkcí. Zabývá se především změnou role muže a ženy a sleduje kariéru ženy jako příčinu vzrůstající rozvodovosti. Jsou zde popsány počátky rodinných vztahů až po současnost.
Rodina není zastaralou institucí, za kterou ji dnes mnozí považují. Tato instituce prošla mnohými změnami, ale přesto zůstává místem, které lidi pro zdravý vývoj potřebují. V rodině dochází k uspokojování řady potřeb jak materiálních, tak i psychických.
Součástí bakalářské práce je průzkum, který má za úkol zjistit, jak vidí dnešní rodinu rodinné a manželské poradny.

This work analyses development of families and its function. Above all it deals with the changes in roles of men and women and it looks at how increasing number of women pursing a career has led to the increase in divorce rate. I have also described the development of family from its infancy to its present sate.
Family is not an obsolete institution as it is considered to be by many people today. It has gone through many changes but it still provides the essentials for the healthy development of a person. It satisfies both the emotional and material needs of a person.
Certain parts of this study provides a report on an inquiry into how modern families view family and matrimonial consultations
