Bakalářská práce se zabývá významem edukace seniorů v péči o jejich zdraví. Teoretická část práce vymezuje předmět geragogiky, základní pojmosloví, popisuje historické mezníky vývoje geragogiky, její hlavní zdroje a cíle. Dále přibližuje specifika edukace seniorů, její funkci, prostředky a/nebo cíle, důležitost a nezbytnost edukace seniorů v rámci poskytované zdravotní péče. Poukazuje na otázky stáří, staroby jako filologického procesu a jevů, které ho doprovázejí, změnou kognitivních funkcí u seniorů, činnostmi podporujícími mentální schopnosti v seniorském věku.
Cílem praktické části v rámci kvantitativního výzkumu je formou dotazníkového šetření zjistit, jaké potřeby mají senioři při edukaci v ambulantní péči onkologického centra, Krajské nemocnice T. Bati, a. s. ve Zlíně. Zda ovlivňuje pohlaví a věk pohled na samotnou edukaci, jaké potřeby mají senioři při edukaci v ambulantní péči, zda je důležité kdo je edukuje, jakou formou, jakým způsobem, zda jsou všechny informace dostatečné, srozumitelné a zda mají pro seniory edukační význam.

The bachelor thesis deals with the education of the seniors in the health care area. The theoretical part defines the subject of the geragogy, the basic concepts and it describes the historical breakpoints in the geragogy development, its principal sources and
the goals. In the next part it examines the specifics of the senior education, its function, means and the goals. Its importace and the necessity in the health care is also described. Then all the questions of the old age as a filology process and the accompanying phenomenas,
the changes of the seniors cognitive functions, the activities supporting the menthal capabilities in the old age are all also pointed out.
The aim of the practical part and its quantitative research is to examine by the questionnaire what needs the old people have during the education in the ambulatory care provided in the oncology center of the Bata Hospital in Zlín. The question if sex and age influences the view on the
education itself, what needs the old people have during the ambulatory care, if it is important who educates them, in which form, way and if the information is sufficient, understandable and if it is relevant is examined.
