Tato práce se zabývá komparací socioekonomické situace svobodné matky v České repub-lice a Irsku. Stručně mapuje historii rodiny a aspekty svobodného mateřství v obou zemích. Jednotlivé kapitoly teoretické části se věnují stěžejním historickým, kulturním, politickým a náboženským událostem k pochopení kontextu současného demografického chování v obou zemích. Je tak dáno teoretické východisko pro zaměření výzkumu. Součástí diplo-mové práce je komparace prováděná na základě parciálního průzkumu veřejného mínění a výzkumu mezi svobodnými matkami s cílem zjistit a porovnat, jak v obou zemích svo-bodná matka vnímá svůj status a jak se ke svobodné matce staví společnost a stát. Z kom-parace vyplývají teritoriální odlišnosti.

This diploma thesis deals with the comparison of socioeconomic situation of Lone Mothers in the Czech Republic and Ireland. It also focuses on the survey of family history and on the aspect of lone motherhood in both countries. Separate chapters turn to the description of main historical, cultural, political and religious hypothesis for the purpose of understan-ding the contemporary demographic behaviour in chosen countries. Stated data give the theoretical basis for the practical research direction. Component of the thesis is the compa-rison based on the public opinion of single mothers and on the research between single mothers themselves. The goals and objectives are the description and the comparison of how single mothers consider their status and how the society and Government are engaged in taking care of them. Results show teritorial dissimilarity.
