Diplomová práce v teoretické části nastiňuje běžné metody katalýzy polymerace ethylenu a její souvislost s charakterem řetězce.
Annotation in English
Common techniques of polyethylene polymerization are outlined in the theoretical part of this Master Thesis. Because presented work follows Dr. Piel’s research, the copolymerization of the linear low-density polyethylene using a new metallocene catalytic system is described. Relevant characteristics of newly acquired copolymers are also presented. Experimental part deals with investigation of the polymer structure using differential scanning calorimetry and both wide-angle and small-angle x-ray scattering. Polarized-light microscopy was applied to observe the grain structure of the material, while scanning electron microscopy provided images of the free-crystallized surface. A model was proposed to describe probable structure of the crystalline regions created by the chains with branches. It was confirmed that tested materials are comprised of two distinct crystalline structures. One is ascribed to the main chain lamellae, while the second is an evidence of the ordered structure of the branches in the inter-lamellae space.

The Master Thesis will be focused on the crystallization and subsequent morphological study of semicrystalline ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymers, in which the side chains can crystallize either together or separately with backbone chains. Theoretical part will summarize state-of-the-art in ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymerization, molecular structure and morphology. Within experimental part, controlled crystallization of the materials under study will be performed in differential scanning calorimeter. Final structure will be followed by microscopy and x-ray diffraction.
