Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá postavením, významem a funkcí rodiny v současné české společnosti. Rodina vždy byla a stále zůstává důležitým prvkem lidské společnosti. Velkým problém dnešní rodiny je čas a hodnotové zaměření české společnosti. Čas, který mohou rodiče věnovat svým dětem. Smysluplně trávené chvíle s dětmi pozitivně ovlivňují jejich vývoj. Totéž platí o společném trávení volném času partnerů a manželů pro další zdárný vývoj jejich vzájemných vztahů. Pro moderní rodinu je charakteristický potřeba svobody a nezávislosti, která by ovšem neměla být zneužívána.

This thesis focuses on the role, importance and function of a family in contemporary Czech society. The family has always been an important element of a human society. The key problem of a contemporary family is time and value system of Czech society. Time the parents could dedicate to their children. Moments with children spent meaningfully affect positively children’s evolution. The same thing applies for partners or spouses spending time together; their relationship evolves successfully. For a modern family need of freedom and independence is characteristic; however, the need should not be abused.
