Cílem této práce je komplexní zmapování sebevražedného jednání a hledání jeho příčin, především pak z pohledu sociální psychologie.
Ze získaných statistických dat uváděných v praktické části vyplývá, že k sebevražednému jednání dochází bez ohledu na to, jaké je právě např. roční období, měsíc nebo den. V časovém srovnání jsou z hlediska počtu sebevražd jen malé rozdíly.
Obecně lze konstatovat, že příčiny sebevražedného jednání vycházejí většinou z celospolečenských problémů.
V ekonomické rovině je to nízká životní úroveň lidí, dlouhodobá nezaměstnanost a s tím související narůstající zadluženost.
Ze sociálních problémů můžeme označit za příčinu vážných problémů velmi vysokou rozvodovost v a s ní související potíže (péče o děti a jejich výchova po rozvodu, rozdělení majetku, citové strádání atd.) i bezdomovectví představující především ztrátu materiálního zázemí, sociálních jistot a vazeb.
Významným důvodem sebevražednosti jsou též zdravotní důvody (převážně psychické problémy) a zkratkové jednání.
Prevence sebevražd z hlediska sociální psychologie spočívá v posilování pozitivních vztahů skupiny a jejich členů navzájem, aby se žádný z nich nestal osamělým a nezůstal mimo nebo na okraji zájmu ostatních a tím pádem netrpěl pocity vlastní neúspěšnosti, zbytečnosti a citové deprivace.
Jako hlavní metoda zkoumání byla užita analýza statistických dat, proto bylo upuštěno od stanovení dílčích předpokladů.

The objective of the work is a complex examine of suicide behaviour and search for the causes, especially from the social psychological point of view.
The obtained statistical data given in the practical part of the work imply that suicidal behaviour is possible no matter the time of the year, month or day. There are just little differences in the number of suicide attempts comparing to the time.
Generally it can be stated that the causes of most of the suicidal behaviour come from problems of the society.
On the economy level it is low living standard, long-term unemployment and related growing debts.
Regarding social problems, we can indicate high divorce rate and related difficulties (children care and breeding after divorce, property composition, emotional deprival etc.) and homelessness representing especially the loss of material background, social security and relationships to be the causes of sever problems.
A considerable cause of suicide attempts is also health state (mainly psychological problems) and adventurous action.
The prevention of suicide from the social psychology point of view leans on strengthening of the positive mutual relationship between the group members, so that none of them becomes alone and outside or on the edge of the other members´ interest and thus suffers from the feeling of failure, uselessness and emotional deprivation.
The main research method used was the statistical data analysis and that is why partial hypotheses formulation was not applied.
