- Material composition of living systems, overview of types of natural macromolecules and low molecular weight substances. Conformation and configuration. - Levels of the structure of natural macromolecules, intramolecular and intermolecular non-covalent bonds. - Substance transformations in living systems - catabolism and anabolism. Energy transformations - transmission, storage and extraction of energy. - Amino acids and peptides. - Spatial structure and function of proteins, their metabolism. - Enzymes - distribution, activity, mechanism of action, enzyme kinetics, activation and inhibition. - Nucleic acids - distribution, composition, conformation. - Information transfer in living systems, protein biosynthesis. - Natural dyes. - Oxygen metabolism, respiratory chain and oxidative phosphorylation. - Cycle of tricarboxylic acids, photosynthesis and nitrogen assimilation. - Carbohydrates - monosaccharides, glycosides, polysaccharides, carbohydrate metabolism and its regulation. - Lipids and isoprenoids - structure, function, metabolism. - Hormones and vitamins - division, effect. Processes on biomembranes.
