- Transfusion history, historical discoveries relating to blood, infusion therapy, blood circulation physiology, and blood composition. Blood donation, blood donor registries, motivation for donation, suitability of donor to donation, risk of transmission of viral diseases through transfusions, National and international registries of rare and discarded donors - 2 hour - Blood donor testing prior to and after blood taking, blood taking techniques, blood bags and sets, managing complications of blood taking - 1 hour - Methods of instrumental apheresis - blood donation, therapeutic apheresis - 1 hour - Processing of blood after blood taking, transfusion products, mandatory testing, transportation of blood products - 1 hour - Blood groups and their importance for the administration of transfusions, pre-transfusion testing, antibody screening, hemolytic disease of newborns- 1 hour - Haemotherapy - use of transfusion, post-transfusion reactions, complications, role of nurses in their management and identification, first aid - 1 hour - Haemotherapy in cancer patients, specificity of use of transfusions in newborns - 1 hour - Excursion to the hematology department, hematology ward. - Excursion to the transfusion department, blood donation.
