Course content
Lectures - Specification of basic terminology in the field of oncology, basic classification of tumour diseases - 1 hour. - Nursing process and specifics of care for the ill children and adults during chemotherapy and radiotherapy - 1 hour. - Tumour pain and specification of basic terminology, evaluation, non-pharmaceutical approach to dealing with pain, pharmacology - 1 hour. - Therapeutic steps for child and adult clients with leukaemia - 1 hour. - Therapeutic steps for clients with selected tumour disease (digestive tract, lung and brain) - 1 hour. - Therapeutic steps for clients with tumour disease of breast, uterus, cervix, and ovaries - 1 hour. - Palliative care - general and specialized, palliative approach, principles, legislation - 1 hour. Seminars - Examination methods, clinical manifestations of tumour diseases - 1 hour. - Types of therapies: radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological treatment - 1 hour. - Types of chemotherapy treatment: peripheral venous catheter (PVC), central venous catheter, peripherally applied central venous catheter (PICC), central venous port - 1 hour. - Nursing intervention for the ill with tumour pain - 1 hour. - Specifics of the care for a patient with centrally applied venous port - 1 hour. - Nursing steps for child and adult clients with leukaemia - 1 hour. - Nursing steps for clients with tumour disease of stomach - 1 hour. - Nursing steps for clients with tumour disease of intestines - 1 hour. - Nursing steps for clients with tumour disease of lungs and brain - 1 hour. - Nursing procedures for clients with breast cancer - 1 hour. - Nursing steps for clients with tumour disease of breast, uterus, cervix, and ovaries - 1 hour. - Palliative and hospice care, dignity and quality of life of the terminally ill - 1 hour. - Vocational/practical training at a selected workplace- 2 hours.
