Course content
Course unit content Lectures - Introduction to pharmacology - basics of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs, drug interactions, side effects - 2 hours. - Drugs affecting the CNS - general anaesthetics, hypnotics, antiemetics, antiparkinsonians, antiepileptics, analgesics (opioids), psychotropic drugs - 2 hours. - Drugs affecting the autonomic nervous system, the basic action of the sympathetic and parasympathetic. Drugs affecting the heart and blood vessels, antihypertensives - 1 hour. - Drugs affecting the heart and blood vessels, diuretics, hypolipemics - 1 hour. - Blood diseases medications - 1 hour. - Drugs affecting the respiratory system, gastrointestinal disorders medications - 1 hour. - Medications for nutritional support, vitamins, minerals - 1 hour. - Medications for diseases of the endocrine system (therapy of thyroid disorders, gonads, contraception, antidiabetics) - 1 hour. - Medications for musculoskeletal therapy (antirheumatics, analgesics). Alternative methods of treatment - 1 hour. - Medications for the treatment of infectious diseases (ATB, chemotherapeutics, antivirals) - 1 hour. - Medications supporting the immune system and cancer treatment - 1 hour. - Medications in pregnancy and lactation - 1 hour. Class Practice - Main effects of selected drugs and possible side effects of drugs - 3 hours. - Administration of drugs orally, per rectum, respiratory tract, into the nose, eye, ear, skin - 4 hours.
