Course content
Lectures - Specification of basic terminology in the field of oncology, basic classification of tumour diseases - Nursing process and specifics of care for the ill children and adults during chemotherapy and radiotherapy - Tumour pain and specification of basic terminology, evaluation, non-pharmaceutical approach to dealing with pain, pharmacology - Summary of nursing care in selected diseases in oncology - Palliative care - general and specialized, palliative approach, principles, legislation - 1 hour. Seminars - Examination methods, clinical manifestations of tumour diseases - Types of therapies: radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological treatment - Types of chemotherapy treatment: peripheral venous catheter (PVC), central venous catheter, peripherally applied central venous catheter (PICC), central venous port - Nursing intervention for the ill with tumour pain - Specifics of the care for a patient with centrally applied venous port - Nursing steps for child and adult clients with leukaemia - Nursing steps for clients with tumour disease of stomach - Nursing steps for clients with tumour disease of intestines - Nursing steps for clients with tumour disease of lungs and brain - Nursing procedures for clients with breast cancer - Nursing steps for clients with tumour disease of breast, uterus, cervix, and ovaries - Palliative and hospice care, dignity and quality of life of the terminally ill
