Course content
Lectures Definition of the term health literacy, models of health literacy, developing systems - 1 hour Health literacy in the context of National strategy 'Health 2020' - 2 hours Index of health literacy, health literacy of Czech population, research in the area of health literacy - 1 hour Health literacy and primary care - 1 hour Effective educational and intervention strategies and health literacy - 1 hour Definition of the term health. Health determinants. Analysis of new opportunities for influencing factors that affect human health. Healthy life style. Health literacy and its role in the health care - 2 hours European strategy for health care. Program of the World Health Organisation for the 21st century. Amsterdam Treaty - 2 hours Seminars - Creation and methodology of projects with a stress on health educational projects - 1 hour - Preventive care (primary, secondary and tertiary prevention) and health education. Pre-requisites for effective influencing of life style - 1 hour - Life style - problems and risks (definition of life style, nutrition, physical activities, smoking, attitude to alcohol, drugs, addictive behaviour, influence of alternative religious groups, bullying, psychic stress, risky sexual behaviour) - 1 hour - Chronic non-infectious diseases and their prevention: cardiovascular diseases, tumour diseases, diabetes mellitus, obesity, osteoporosis, oral cavity and teeth illness, allergies and related diseases - 1 hour - Basics of working with a client - influencing and educating clients, opportunities for achieving changes for behavioural change, clients' willingness to cooperate and opportunities to improve compliance - 1 hour - Educational methods for health building and their utilisation. Practical examples of individual methods and tools - 1 hour - Injuries prevention and risky behaviour of children and the youth - 1 hour - Reproduction health. Education of sexual behaviour. Educational programs in this area - 1 hour - A field visit at selected workplaces (Smoking withdrawal therapy and advisory centre, Pulmonary ambulance, Centre of diagnostics and treatment of sleeping disorders and wakefulness, Obesitology ambulance, Nutrition and dietetic counselling etc.) - 2 hours
