Course content
|
Focus of professional experience: 1. Introduction to the organization of the department, prevention of nosocomial infections, hygienic hand disinfection, barrier regime, disinfection procedures, sterilization. 2. Care for the patient's environment, hospital bed, handling of laundry, use of bed aids. Positioning patients, rest and sleep care. Principles of working with nursing documentation. 3. Bandaging techniques, treatment of acute, aseptic, and septic wounds, assistance with dressing changes. Prevention and treatment of chronic wounds, including pressure ulcers. Dressing cart and sterile table care. 4. Providing hygiene care for adult patients. Specifics of complex hygiene care for immobile patients. 5. Providing preventive procedures for impending or developing immobilisation syndrome. 6. Monitoring physiological functions. Measuring body temperature, breathing, and heart rate. ECG recording, pulse oximeter monitoring. Consciousness check. 7. Care for patients in pain, performing basal stimulation. 8. Collection of biological material: urine, stool, sputum, stomach and duodenal contents, smears, swabs, capillary and venous blood samples. 9. Management of urine emptying, care of patients with urinary incontinence. Bladder catheterization: single-use, permanent, care of permanent urinary catheter. 10. Management of stool emptying. Application of various types of enemas. Care of patients with fecal incontinence. Care for stomas in the intestinal area. 11. Receiving, checking, and handling medicinal products. Handling opiates. Administering medication per os, into cavities, onto mucous membranes, through the skin, and through the respiratory tract. 12. Administering intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections. 13. Securing peripheral venous access. Intravenous administration of medications. Infusion therapy.

| - provide hygienic care for patients in follow-up hospital care; - perform morning hygiene for bedridden patients, give bedridden patients a full bath, wash their hair, and provide hygienic care for soiled patients; - take care of endotracheal tubes and tracheostomy tubes; - perform open and closed suctioning of the lower respiratory tract; - take care of patients on ventilators with knowledge of the individual parts of the respiratory circuit; - respect the barrier system of nursing care in the follow-up hospital care; - manage the basic operation of BP, TT, pulse, respiration, SpO2, and ECG monitors and be able to monitor these functions; - position patients in the follow-up hospital care; - use basic scoring systems in the follow-up hospital care; - understand the medical and nursing documentation used in the follow-up hospital care; - assist with dressing surgical wounds and taking care of invasive procedure wounds; - prepare a sterile table for central venous catheter cannulation and assist in the procedure; - perform venous and arterial blood sampling from a secured access point; - prepare infusion solutions and administer them using linear dispensers and infusion pumps; - insert and care for a nasogastric tube; - manage stoma care; - collect urine from patients with and without a permanent urinary catheter; - perform sputum collection in patients with secured airways; - manage the administration, preparation, and monitoring of patients during transfusion; - perform bladder catheterisation in women and assist with bladder catheterisation in men. |
