Lectures - Gerontology and geriatrics - interpretation of terms. - Demographic and epidemiological data related to the issue of seniors, consequences of population aging. - Comprehensive care for the elderly, ethical aspects of caring for the elderly. - Geriatric syndromes. - Frequent clinical problems in old age (diseases of the respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, locomotor, nervous system, blood, endocrine, oncological diseases, dementia, depression, terminal stages of the disease). - Risk situations and risk persons in the elderly population, the issue of self-sufficiency and dependency in old age, contribution to care. - Psychosocial aspects of aging (changes in work, family, attitudes and values; the role of "being old" in modern society), application in social work. - Quality of life for seniors, meaningfulness of life in old age. Seminars - Assessment of physical and mental abilities of seniors. - Falls and risks of injuries, home safety, acute conditions in geriatrics. - Activation of seniors. - Communication with sick seniors and their relatives. - Issues of caregivers, risks of burnout syndrome, importance of respite care. - Risk situations and risk persons in the elderly population, the issue of self-sufficiency and dependency in old age, contribution to care. - Nutrition.
