Course content
- Demography and its position among other science disciplines. The history of demography in the world and the Czech Republic, - Defining the basic terminology. Demographic events and processes. Collecting and creating demographic data - basic statistics, local information systems, housing and population census, mobility, the lexicon of municipalities and other data sources at the national and international levels, - The structure and function of the Czech Statistical Office and the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic, - The population structure by age, gender and marital status. The tree of life, the types of age structures and their characteristics. Demographic aging, its causes and consequences, - Processes of birth and abortion rates - indicators, conditionality and connections. The development of fertility in the Czech Republic and international comparisons, - Marriage and divorce rates - demographic, social, cultural and legislative indicators. Changes in the level of marriage and divorce rates in the Czech Republic and international comparisons, - The health status of the population. Use of health assessment of public health for health care (primarily for prevention). ICD-10: The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, - Mortality - mortality process and its conditionality, mortality by age, sex and cause, modelling the process of mortality, mortality tables and their use for analysis and prognosis, mortality in an international comparison, - Socio-cultural characteristics of the population. Global aspects of migration. Migration and its importance for the regions - Population development in the Czech Republic: The past and present. Population prognosis for the population in the Czech Republic and the world.
