Course content
|
- Sociology as a scientific discipline, sociology as a theory of social work in Berger's concept, basic sociological terminology. Basic sociological literature. - The subject of sociology and its position in the system of sciences, the emergence of sociology as a science, its origins and use. Sociology and social work. - Selected representatives of sociological thought. - Society and the individual, social interaction in everyday life. Social problems through the eyes of sociology. - Types of societies (traditional, modern and postmodern society). - Process of socialization and enculturation, culture, subculture, values and norms. A system of social control. Social institutions, social deviance, mental illness, crime, organized crime. - Family and marriage. Alternatives to marriage and family. - Conforming and non-conforming behavior, anomie as a state of society when shared values and norms cease to apply. - Social stratification, systems of social stratification, education as one of the factors of stratification. - Status, social mobility and social roles. - Modern organizations and modern life, bureaucratic organizations, institutions as established, stereotyped, routine ways of acting common in a certain group or culture. - Mass media, regulation of mass media, influence of television on everyday life. - Gender and sexuality, identity and sexuality, gender inequality, gender - women's and men's studies, health and illness, issues of aging, death. - Work and economic life, modern organization, education and cultural reproduction. - Global changes and ecological crisis, the environment as a sociological problem. - Basics of sociological research, research goals, subject and object of sociological research, qualitative and quantitative integrated research strategies, methods and techniques of sociological research.
