Course content
Definition of preschool pedagogy and its position in the system of pedagogical sciences. The concept of pedagogical thinking and the teacher's conception of teaching. Historical and philosophical context of preschool education. Learning and educational processes in preschool children. The child and childhood in historical retrospect. (Self)reflection in the teaching profession. Preschool pedagogy in the Czech Republic and in international comparison. Models of kindergarten. Specifics of preschool education; education and training across the levels of the school system. Transdisciplinary conceptions of preschool education. Environment, climate and contexts of preschool education. Curricular issues in early childhood education. Professional characteristics of the preschool teacher. Cooperation between kindergartens and with other actors; the role of education policy.
