Purpose, genres and audience of academic writing Vocabulary in academic writing Style: formality, clarity, impersonality Fluency and coherence in writing Avoidance of plagiarism Summarising and paraphrasing Citation and reference to sources of information Planning process Paragraphs and their arrangement Writing introductions and conclusions Fact, opinion and strength of argument
