Course content
The course Morphology covers the following topics: - language science and its methodology (grammaticality tests), descriptive vs prescriptive grammar - words, morphemes and their classification - syntactic categories, substitution tests - nominal inflection (number), allomorphy - verbal inflection (person, number, tense, aspect, voice, mood), finite vs non-finite verb forms - phrase structure, grammatical functions, semantic roles - noun phrases (NPs), determiner phrases (DPs) - pronouns (personal, interrogative, demonstrative, reflexive, reciprocal, relative) - case (rich case languages vs pronominal case languages) - verb phrases: valency, subcategorization, complements vs adjuncts - predicate structure: modals, auxiliaries, lexical verbs, operator (N.I.C.E. properties) - adjectives, adjverbs and prepositions - revision
