Course content
|
- This course will first focus on how to use internet and library resources to perform academic research. - The students will learn how to properly formulate an argument. - Students will learn the basics of paragraph construction, including the use of a topic sentence and discourse markers. - Building on the concepts learned in paragraph construction, the students will then learn the constituent parts of an academic essay, including an introduction, thesis statement, supporting paragraphs, conclusion, citations, and works cited page. - The students will write their own five page academic essay as well as several other assignments. - They will learn first hand the process of peer review, critique, and revision.
