Course content
- Stylistic terminology - Stylistic differentiation of the English language - Characteristics of individual non-fiction genres (language of science, language of management, language of advertisement, language of economic documents and correspondence, language of legal communication, etc.) - Practical lexical and stylistic analysis of texts belonging to different non-fiction genres - Sociolinguistics

learning outcomes
Knowledge
Students are able to distinguish the basic and marginal functional styles and their linguistic characteristics. They have an overview of, for example, scientific functional style at the level of lexis, stylistic means and pragmatic means. They can use the knowledge acquired at lectures for analysis of given texts and they can deduce the relations and associations of apearance/absence of some language phenomena.
