Course content
- Phonetics and phonology - International Phonetic Alphabet - different ways of transcription - Vowels - Diphthongs - Consonants - Syllable - Word stress - Sentence stress, weak forms, reduction - Linking - Pace - Intonation - Pronunciation varieties of English (Received Pronunciation, Standard American, etc.)

Knowledge
Students understand how English sound system works and know about the differences between English and native language. They can identify the cause of pronunciation deviations and can use the theoretical knowledge to practically improve their personal English pronunciation. They can transcribe speeches and reason the appearance or absence of some sound phenomena.
