Course content
- Cosmetics - legislation - Medical devices and biomaterials - legislation. - Sampling and sample preparation. - Physico-chemical methods in the analysis of biomaterials and cosmetics. - Fundametals of potentiometry, conductometry and viscometry - Chromatographic methods, principles, background information. - Liquid and gas chromatography, instrumentation. - Optical methods - basic concepts, classification. - Spectroscopic methods, basics, principles, UV-Vis and IR spectroscopy. - Refractometry and polarimetry - Methods for characterization of dispersion systems (nephelometry and turbidimetry). - Testing of biomaterials - surface and volume properties. - Methods to determine the safety of biomaterials and cosmetics (biocompatibility requirements). - Methods to determine the effectiveness of cosmetics.
